The STARRETT 20739 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade engineered for cutting ferrous and non-ferrous metals in industrial and shop environments. It measures 174 inches long and 1-1/4 inches wide with a blade thickness of 0.042 inches. The variable pitch tooth pattern runs at 5 to 8 teeth per inch (TPI), reducing harmonic vibration and improving cut quality across a range of material cross-sections. High speed steel teeth are set in a raker pattern with a positive rake angle and straight tooth form. A flexible back type helps the blade track consistently on bandsaw wheels and resist fatigue during extended cutting cycles. This blade is part of the Intenss PRO series and is intended for installation by machinists, fabricators, and maintenance technicians working with metal cutting bandsaws.
This blade is suited for production and maintenance cutting of ferrous metals such as steel and iron as well as non-ferrous metals including aluminum and copper alloys. The variable 5-8 TPI pitch is well matched to structural shapes, solid bar stock, and tubing where a single-pitch blade would chatter or produce rough cuts. Typical install scenarios include horizontal and vertical metal cutting bandsaws found in fabrication shops, machine shops, and industrial maintenance facilities.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit blade for metal cutting bandsaws that accept a 174-inch by 1-1/4-inch blade. Verify wheel spacing, blade guides, and blade tension specifications on the host machine before installation.
Bandsaw blade installation should be performed by a qualified technician familiar with the host machine. Disconnect and lock out electrical power to the bandsaw before removing the old blade or installing the new one. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling the coiled blade, as the teeth present a laceration hazard. Set blade tension and tracking per the bandsaw manufacturer specifications before resuming cutting operations.
