The STARRETT 20730 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade in the Intenss PRO series, designed for cutting ferrous and non-ferrous metals on horizontal or vertical band saws. The blade runs 12 feet in length, 1-1/4 inches wide, and 0.042 inches thick. It features a variable pitch tooth pattern in the 4 to 6 TPI range, which helps reduce vibration and noise during the cut while improving chip clearance. High speed steel teeth are electron-beam welded to a flexible alloy steel back for durability under the repeated flex stress of bandsaw operation. The raker tooth set and positive rake angle promote aggressive, efficient cutting in production and job-shop environments. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical contractors as well as metalworking shops will find this blade suited to general structural and pipe cutting tasks.
The STARRETT 20730 is intended for metal-cutting band saws used in commercial and industrial settings. Its bi-metal construction makes it appropriate for a broad range of metal stock: structural steel, angle iron, pipe, tubing, aluminum extrusions, brass, and similar ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The variable pitch design makes it particularly effective on interrupted cuts, bundles, and varying cross-sections where a fixed-pitch blade tends to chatter. It is sold as a single welded loop ready to install without additional joining.
Designed as a replacement or production-stock welded bandsaw blade for metal-cutting band saws accepting a 1-1/4 inch wide blade in a 12-foot loop length. Verify wheel spacing, blade guides, and blade tension rating on the saw before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified technician familiar with band saw blade changes. Disconnect and lock out power to the saw before opening the blade guards or removing the existing blade. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling the coiled blade; the teeth are sharp and the loop can spring open unexpectedly. After seating the blade on the wheels and threading it through the guides, set blade tension and tracking per the saw manufacturer specifications before restoring power and making a test run.
