The STARRETT 20720 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade engineered for cutting ferrous and non-ferrous metals in industrial and shop environments. Measuring 15 feet 6 inches in length, 1 inch wide, and 0.035 inches thick, it fits horizontal and vertical metal-cutting bandsaws designed for that blade size. The variable pitch tooth pattern ranging from 5 to 8 TPI reduces vibration and harmonic chatter during cuts, which improves surface finish and extends blade life. High speed steel teeth with a positive rake angle and raker tooth set deliver aggressive, efficient stock removal through a wide range of metal thicknesses. Licensed machinists, maintenance techs, and fabrication shop operators are the primary users.
This blade is suited for production cutting of ferrous metals such as steel bar, structural steel, and pipe, as well as non-ferrous materials including aluminum, brass, and copper. The flexible back construction allows the blade to track consistently at higher feed pressures without fatigue cracking along the spine. It is part of the Intenss PRO series, which is designed for demanding continuous-use applications where blade longevity and cut quality are priorities. Typical installations include fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and metalworking operations running production-volume bandsaw work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit blade for metal-cutting bandsaws that accept a 15 foot 6 inch welded loop blade measuring 1 inch wide and 0.035 inches thick. Suitable for cutting ferrous metal and non-ferrous metal workpieces.
Bandsaw blade installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician with the machine fully powered down and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify blade tension and tracking alignment before making any cuts, following the bandsaw manufacturer's tension specifications for a 1 inch wide blade. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling the blade coil, as the teeth and blade edges present a laceration hazard during installation. Inspect blade guides and thrust bearings for wear before mounting a new blade.
