The STARRETT 20699 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade engineered for demanding metal-cutting applications in industrial and shop environments. It measures 13 feet 11 inches in length, 1 inch in width, and 0.035 inches in thickness. The blade uses a variable pitch tooth pattern ranging from 5 to 8 TPI, which reduces harmonic vibration and chatter during the cut. High speed steel teeth are friction-welded to a flexible alloy steel back, combining edge hardness with resistance to blade fatigue. This blade is suited for production sawing on horizontal and vertical band saws operated by machinists, fabricators, and tool room technicians.
This blade is designed for cutting ferrous and non-ferrous metals including structural steel, tubing, bar stock, aluminum, and copper alloy sections. The variable pitch configuration makes it a practical choice for cutting a mix of section thicknesses and profiles without swapping blades. A raker tooth set and positive rake angle promote consistent chip evacuation and reduce heat buildup at the cutting edge, extending blade life in continuous production use. It is appropriate for both light structural work and repetitive production cutting on industrial-grade band saws.
Designed as a direct-fit welded replacement blade for industrial band saws accepting a 1 inch wide by 0.035 inch thick blade in a 13 foot 11 inch loop length. Confirm machine specifications before installation.
Band saw blade installation should be performed by qualified machinists or tool room technicians with the machine fully de-energized and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify wheel diameter, blade guides, and blade tension settings are appropriate for a 1 inch wide bi-metal blade before mounting. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling the coiled blade. Do not exceed the band saw manufacturer's maximum blade speed rating for bi-metal blades.
