The STARRETT 20697 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade designed for cutting ferrous and non-ferrous metals in industrial and fabrication environments. Measuring 154 inches long, 1 inch wide, and 0.035 inches thick, this blade runs on stationary band saws commonly found in metal shops and manufacturing facilities. The variable pitch tooth pattern ranges from 5 to 8 TPI, which helps reduce vibration and harmonic resonance during the cut. High speed steel teeth are electron-beam welded to a flexible alloy steel back, giving the blade durability through interrupted cuts and varying stock thicknesses. It is part of the Intenss PRO series and is sold as a single blade.
This blade is suited for production cutting of structural steel, tubing, bar stock, angle iron, aluminum extrusions, and similar ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The variable pitch configuration handles a range of stock sizes without requiring a blade change, making it a practical choice for job shops cutting mixed material runs. A positive rake angle improves feed rate and chip clearing on harder metals. The raker tooth set and straight tooth form are standard for general-purpose metal cutting on horizontal and vertical band saws.
Designed for use on stationary band saws requiring a 154-inch blade with a 1-inch width. Suitable for cutting ferrous metals and non-ferrous metals as stated by the manufacturer.
Blade installation should be performed by a qualified technician with the band saw fully powered down and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify wheel diameter, blade length, and blade guide spacing on the saw before mounting. Tension the blade according to the saw manufacturer's specifications for the blade width being used. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling the coiled blade, as the teeth present a laceration hazard during uncoiling and installation.
