The STARRETT 20682 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade engineered for demanding metal-cutting applications in industrial and fabrication environments. Part of the Intenss PRO-VTH series, it measures 11 feet 6 inches in length, 1 inch in width, and 0.035 inches in thickness. The blade runs a variable-pitch tooth pattern at 4 to 6 TPI, which reduces harmonic vibration and delivers smoother cuts across varying cross-sections. High speed steel M42 teeth with a positive rake angle and raker tooth set are ground for precision, making this blade well suited for cutting steel and exotic steel alloys. Licensed machinists, tool room technicians, and industrial maintenance trades install and use this blade.
The 20682 is designed for contour cutting on horizontal and vertical bandsaws commonly found in machine shops, fabrication facilities, and maintenance departments. The flexible back type allows the blade to track smoothly around bandsaw wheels without fatigue cracking during extended production runs. The variable 4 to 6 TPI pitch is especially effective when cutting solid stock, structural shapes, and tube or pipe in steel and exotic steel materials. The straight tooth form paired with the positive rake angle drives chips out of the cut efficiently, reducing heat buildup and extending tooth life during continuous-duty cutting.
Designed for bandsaws accepting an 11 foot 6 inch blade loop with a 1 inch blade width. Verify wheel diameter, blade guide spacing, and drive specifications on the host machine before installing to confirm fitment.
Bandsaw blade changes must be performed by qualified machine operators or maintenance technicians with the saw fully de-energized and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling and coiling or uncoiling the blade. Set blade tension and tracking according to the bandsaw manufacturer specifications before running the saw under load. Inspect blade guides, wheel tires, and guide bearings for wear before mounting a new blade to avoid premature blade failure.
