The STARRETT 20654 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade engineered for cutting ferrous and non-ferrous metals in professional shop and fabrication environments. It measures 15 feet in length and 1-1/4 inches wide, with a blade thickness of 0.042 inches. The variable-pitch tooth pattern at 3-4 TPI reduces harmonic vibration during the cut, extending blade life and improving surface finish on structural steel, pipe, angle iron, and similar stock. High speed steel teeth are set in a raker pattern with a positive rake angle for aggressive, efficient material removal. This blade is part of the Intenss PRO series and is installed by machinists, metal fabricators, and maintenance technicians on horizontal and vertical band saws.
This blade is suited for production cutting of ferrous metals such as mild steel, alloy steel, and structural shapes, as well as non-ferrous metals including aluminum, brass, and copper. The flexible back and raker tooth set make it a practical choice for straight cuts through solid bar stock, tubing, and plate. The 3-4 variable TPI range handles a range of cross-sections without requiring a blade change between material sizes, reducing downtime in multi-material shop settings.
Designed as a welded replacement blade for horizontal and vertical band saws accepting a 15-foot by 1-1/4-inch blade. Verify wheel diameter, blade guide spacing, and blade tension specifications on the saw before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician familiar with band saw blade changes. Disconnect and lock out power to the saw before opening blade guards or handling the blade. Coiled blades store significant spring tension — wear cut-resistant gloves and eye protection when uncoiling. Set blade tension and tracking per the saw manufacturer specifications before running the machine.
