The STARRETT 17078 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade engineered for continuous cutting of ferrous and non-ferrous metals in industrial and fabrication environments. The blade measures 122 inches in length, 0.5 inches wide, and 0.035 inches thick. It runs a constant 10 teeth per inch (TPI) raker tooth pattern with a positive rake angle and straight tooth form. The M42 high speed steel tooth material delivers extended edge retention when cutting harder ferrous alloys, making this blade a practical choice for shops that run their saws hard and need consistent performance across material types.
The STARRETT 17078 is suited for contour cutting applications on vertical bandsaws in metalworking shops, fabrication facilities, and maintenance operations. The flexible back construction helps the blade handle curved and straight cuts on structural steel, pipe, tubing, bar stock, and non-ferrous materials such as aluminum and copper. It is part of the Intenss series, which is designed for demanding production cutting where blade life and cut quality are priorities. This blade is packaged individually and sold as a single unit.
Designed for use on vertical bandsaw machines accepting a blade length of 122 inches, 0.5 inches wide, and 0.035 inches thick. Suitable for ferrous metal and non-ferrous metal cutting applications.
Blade installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician with the bandsaw fully powered down and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify wheel diameter, blade guides, and tensioning mechanism are compatible with this blade width and thickness before mounting. Inspect weld integrity before installing, and allow the blade to run-in at reduced feed pressure for the first few cuts to seat the tooth set properly.
