The STARRETT 16991 is a bi-metal reciprocating saw blade engineered for cutting metal in demanding trade applications. The blade measures 8 inches in length with a constant-pitch, 18 teeth-per-inch (TPI) straight tooth configuration, making it well suited for controlled, clean cuts through ferrous and non-ferrous metal stock. At 0.035 inches thick, the blade delivers rigidity without excessive weight. A universal shank design ensures compatibility with the broad majority of reciprocating saw platforms used in the field. Each package contains 2 blades. Licensed tradespeople in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC service work will find this blade appropriate for conduit, pipe, metal framing, and strut cutting tasks.
This blade is intended for metal cutting applications in both residential and light commercial service environments. It is a straight-profile blade with an angled tip and toothed cutting edge, optimized for straight-line cuts rather than contour or rescue work. The 18 TPI constant pitch pattern suits thinner-walled metal, EMT conduit, copper and steel pipe sections, all-thread rod, and similar materials commonly encountered during rough-in and service work. It is not rated for rescue or demolition applications.
Designed for use with reciprocating saws equipped with a universal shank interface, covering the large majority of professional cordless and corded reciprocating saw platforms on the market.
Blade installation and replacement should be performed with the saw unplugged or the battery removed. Confirm the shank is fully seated and the blade clamp mechanism is locked before operation. Wear appropriate eye and hand protection when cutting metal, as reciprocating saw work generates sharp debris and heat at the cut line. Follow applicable workplace safety codes and tool manufacturer guidelines for blade changes.
