The STARRETT 16972 is a bi-metal reciprocating saw blade designed for cutting metal in demanding trade applications. At 4 inches in length with a 24 teeth-per-inch (TPI) constant pitch pattern, it delivers clean, controlled cuts through sheet metal, conduit, pipe, and other metal materials. The universal shank fits most standard reciprocating saw chucks, making it a practical choice for electricians, plumbers, HVAC techs, and mechanical contractors working in tight or confined spaces. Each package contains 2 blades. The blade profile is straight with an angled tip and straight tooth form, optimized for metal removal rather than wood or demolition work.
This blade is suited for residential and commercial trade work where precise metal cutting is required. Typical applications include cutting electrical conduit, copper or steel pipe, metal straps, and light structural steel during installation or service. The 24 TPI count makes it well matched for thin-wall metal stock where a coarser blade would snag or tear. It is not rated for rescue or demolition use and is not intended for contour cutting. HVAC, plumbing, and electrical trades will find it most useful for straight-line cuts on metal components during rough-in and service work.
Designed for use with reciprocating saws accepting a universal shank. Intended for metal cutting applications only. Not compatible with rescue or demolition cutting scenarios.
Blade installation and replacement should be performed with the tool unplugged or the battery removed. Ensure the universal shank is fully seated and locked in the chuck before operating. Always wear appropriate eye and hand protection when cutting metal, as burrs and metal chips are common. Verify the blade rating matches the material being cut before use.
