The STARRETT 16557 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade from the Intenss PRO series, built for production cutting of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It measures 11 feet 9 inches in length, 1 inch in width, and 0.035 inches in thickness. The blade runs a variable pitch of 6 to 10 teeth per inch, which reduces harmonic vibration and delivers a smoother cut across varying stock cross-sections. High speed steel teeth are electron-beam welded to a flexible alloy steel back, combining edge hardness with fatigue resistance. Licensed HVAC techs, plumbers, and pipefitters routinely use bi-metal blades like this one when cutting pipe, strut, and structural stock on vertical or horizontal band saws.
This blade is suited for metal fabrication shops, mechanical contractors, and trade professionals cutting a wide range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials including structural steel, steel pipe, aluminum, and copper. The variable pitch pattern makes it effective on both solid bar stock and hollow sections. A positive rake angle on the teeth promotes aggressive chip clearing during cuts, reducing heat buildup and extending blade life in continuous-use shop environments. The raker tooth set provides uniform chip clearance across the cut path.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-fit blade for band saws accepting a 141-inch (11 feet 9 inches) loop length with a 1-inch blade width and 0.035-inch blade thickness. Suitable for cutting ferrous metal and non-ferrous metal workpieces.
Bandsaw blade installation should be performed by a qualified technician with the saw fully de-energized and the power source locked out before handling. Wear cut-resistant gloves when uncoiling and mounting the blade, as the teeth present a laceration hazard. Verify blade tension, guide alignment, and wheel tracking per the saw manufacturer specifications before resuming operation. Do not exceed the saw manufacturer rated blade speed for the width and pitch selected.
