The STARRETT 16555 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade built for continuous cutting in metal fabrication and general industrial applications. The blade measures 11 feet 10 inches in overall length and 0.5 inches wide, with a 0.035-inch thickness and a constant 14 TPI pitch. The tooth edge is manufactured from M42 high speed steel, a cobalt-bearing alloy that retains hardness at elevated cutting temperatures. The flexible back construction reduces fatigue cracking during operation. This blade is suited for licensed trade professionals and industrial maintenance technicians running vertical or horizontal band saws in shop environments.
The STARRETT 16555 is designed for contour and straight cutting in both ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Applications include structural steel, tubing, pipe, aluminum extrusions, and bar stock. The raker tooth set distributes cutting load evenly across the blade, reducing heat buildup and extending blade life during prolonged production runs. It is appropriate for machine shops, pipefitters, fabricators, and maintenance trades working with metal-cutting band saw equipment.
Designed as a direct-fit welded replacement blade for band saw machines accepting a 0.5-inch wide by 0.035-inch thick blade at 11 feet 10 inches in length.
Band saw blade installation should be performed by a qualified technician with the saw fully de-energized and locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify blade tracking, tension, and guide bearing clearance before resuming operation. Always wear cut-resistant gloves when handling coiled or uncoiled bandsaw blades. Confirm the machine's wheel diameter and blade capacity specifications match the blade length before installation.
