The STARRETT 16288 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade engineered for demanding metal-cutting applications in fabrication and machine shop environments. Measuring 15 feet 9 inches in length and 0.5 inches wide with a 0.035-inch thickness, this blade is built on the Intenss PRO-DIE series platform. The M42 high speed steel tooth material delivers heat resistance and edge retention when cutting through tough materials. A variable pitch of 6 to 10 TPI reduces harmonic vibration during cuts, extending blade life and improving surface finish on a wide range of stock profiles.
This blade is suited for contour cutting and straight cutting on vertical and horizontal bandsaws in professional metalworking settings. Its raker tooth set and positive rake angle make it effective on solid bar stock, structural shapes, tubing, and plate. Rated for steel, stainless steel, exotic steel alloys, and non-ferrous metals, it handles the variety of materials common in production and maintenance shops. Licensed contractors and metalworking tradespeople working with tight tolerances will appreciate the consistent weld joint and flexible back construction on this blade.
Designed as an OEM-style welded replacement blade for bandsaws with a 15-foot 9-inch wheel-to-wheel blade path and a 0.5-inch blade guide width, typical of mid-size vertical metalcutting bandsaw models.
Bandsaw blade installation should be performed by a qualified operator following the saw manufacturer's tensioning and tracking procedures. Disconnect and lock out power to the bandsaw before handling or mounting the blade. Verify blade guides, thrust bearings, and wheel alignment before resuming operation. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling coiled or uncoiled blade stock.
