The STARRETT 16282 is a bi-metal welded bandsaw blade engineered for continuous cutting in metalworking applications. It measures 15 feet 6 inches in length, 0.5 inches wide, and 0.035 inches thick, with a constant 10 teeth per inch (TPI) pitch. The cutting teeth are made from M42-grade high speed steel, offering superior edge retention on demanding materials. A positive rake angle and raker tooth set promote aggressive, efficient chip clearance during cuts. This blade is installed by machinists and fabricators on horizontal and vertical bandsaws in production and job-shop environments.
The 16282 is suited for cutting ferrous metals such as mild steel, alloy steel, and stainless, as well as non-ferrous metals including aluminum, copper, and brass. The constant 10 TPI pitch makes it best matched to solid bar stock, structural shapes, and tubing with consistent wall thickness. The flexible back design helps the blade track smoothly on standard bandsaw wheel configurations and reduces the risk of blade fatigue during extended cutting cycles. It is a practical general-purpose metal-cutting blade for shops that process a variety of stock sizes.
Designed as a welded replacement bandsaw blade for horizontal and vertical metal-cutting bandsaws that accept a 15-foot 6-inch blade loop, 0.5 inches wide and 0.035 inches thick.
Bandsaw blade replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or technician with the saw fully powered off and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify wheel diameter, blade guide clearance, and tension specifications on the host machine before installation. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling the coiled blade. After installation, run the blade at low load for a brief break-in period before full production cutting.
