The STARRETT 16272 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade engineered for continuous cutting in demanding metal-cutting applications. Part of the Versatix MP series, this blade measures 9 feet 7.5 inches in length and 0.75 inches wide, with a blade thickness of 0.035 inches. The variable-pitch tooth design runs at 8 to 12 TPI, reducing vibration and harmonic chatter during cuts. Tooth material is M42 high speed steel, set in a raker pattern with a positive rake angle for aggressive chip removal. This blade is sold as a single welded loop ready to mount and run.
The 16272 is designed for cutting structural steel in production or job-site environments. The flexible back type allows it to run on standard horizontal and vertical bandsaws sized for 9-foot 7.5-inch blade loops. Its variable pitch and positive rake geometry make it well suited for interrupted cuts, bundle cutting, and solid bar stock. The M42 tooth material handles tough, abrasion-resistant alloys that standard carbon blades cannot sustain. Licensed metalworking professionals and fabrication shops are the primary installers and end users of this blade.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit bandsaw blade for horizontal and vertical band saws accepting a 9-foot 7.5-inch blade loop with a 0.75-inch blade width and 0.035-inch thickness.
Bandsaw blade changes should be performed by a qualified metalworking technician with the saw fully de-energized and the blade guides retracted before beginning. Verify wheel diameter, blade guide spacing, and throat capacity on the host saw match the blade dimensions before installation. Tension the blade per the saw manufacturer specification using the onboard tension gauge. Eye protection and cut-resistant gloves are required when handling and mounting welded bandsaw blades.
