The STARRETT 15996 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade built for cutting ferrous and non-ferrous metals in demanding shop and fabrication environments. The blade measures 16 feet in length and 1-1/4 inches wide with a 0.042-inch thickness, providing the rigidity and flexibility needed for contour and straight cuts. Tooth material is M42 high speed steel with a variable pitch of 4 to 6 TPI, a raker tooth set, and a positive rake angle. This combination reduces vibration, controls chip load, and extends blade life when cutting a broad range of metal stock. It is part of the Intenss series and arrives factory-welded and ready to mount.
The 15996 is suited for metal-cutting vertical and horizontal bandsaws used in machine shops, metal fabrication facilities, and maintenance shops. The variable pitch design makes it effective across varying cross-sections of ferrous and non-ferrous stock, including structural shapes, tubing, and solid bar. The flexible back construction allows it to run on machines designed for standard bi-metal blade profiles. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die techs, and experienced fabricators are the typical installers and users of this blade type.
Designed for metal-cutting bandsaws that accept a 16-foot, 1-1/4-inch-wide bi-metal blade. Suitable for cutting ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or fabricator familiar with bandsaw blade mounting procedures. Disconnect and lock out power to the saw before removing the old blade or mounting the new one. Verify wheel spacing, blade guides, and blade tension settings are adjusted to the manufacturer specifications for a 1-1/4-inch blade before operation. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling the coiled blade.
