The STARRETT 15843 is a bi-metal band saw blade coil stock designed for continuous cutting operations where blades are cut to length on-site or in the shop. The coil spans 100 feet at 0.5 inches wide and 0.025 inches thick, with a 4 teeth-per-inch (TPI) constant pitch and a hook tooth form set in a raker pattern. The bi-metal construction pairs an alloy steel back with a high speed steel tooth edge, combining flexibility with cutting durability. Fabricators, maintenance shops, and production facilities use coil stock to produce custom-length blades for horizontal and vertical band saws without relying on pre-welded loops.
This coil stock is suited for structural and general-purpose cutting in metalworking environments where varying workpiece lengths or non-standard blade lengths make coil stock more practical than pre-cut blades. The 4 TPI constant pitch and hook tooth form are well-matched to cutting thicker cross-sections of metal, including structural steel, pipe, solid bar stock, and similar materials. The raker set distributes tooth load and helps clear chips efficiently during straight or contour cuts. Contour cutting capability is built into the blade geometry.
Designed as a coil-stock replacement or fabrication source for band saws accepting 0.5-inch-wide bi-metal blades. Blade sections are cut and welded to length to fit specific saw models as required.
Cutting and welding coil stock to length should be performed by qualified personnel using a band saw blade welder and appropriate blade grinding equipment. Ensure the saw is fully powered down and locked out before removing or installing a blade. Verify blade tension, guide alignment, and wheel tracking according to the saw manufacturer's service documentation before resuming operation. Blade handling requires cut-resistant gloves due to exposed tooth edges along the full coil length.
