The STARRETT 15395 is a bi-metal band saw blade coil stock designed for continuous cutting operations in metal fabrication, maintenance, and industrial shop environments. The coil measures 100 feet in length and 1/2 inch in width, with a blade thickness of 0.035 inches, allowing fabricators and machinists to cut blades to the exact length needed for their band saw. The high speed steel teeth are bonded to an alloy steel back, combining edge hardness with body flexibility. A variable pitch tooth pattern ranging from 10 to 14 teeth per inch (TPI) helps reduce vibration and noise while improving cut quality across a range of material thicknesses.
This coil stock suits production shops, maintenance facilities, and job sites that run horizontal or vertical band saws and prefer to weld their own blade lengths on-site. The raker tooth set and straight rake angle make this blade well-suited for general-purpose cutting of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, structural stock, pipe, and solid bar. The 100-foot coil reduces downtime associated with frequent blade changes and is appropriate for operations that cycle through blades at high volume.
Designed for use with band saws that accept 1/2 inch wide blades; coil stock is cut and butt-welded to the required loop length for the specific saw model in use.
Blade welding should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool-and-die technician using a dedicated band saw blade welder and grinder. Power down and lock out the band saw before installing or tensioning any blade. Follow the saw manufacturer's tension and tracking specifications for 1/2 inch bi-metal blade stock. Inspect the weld joint for alignment and dress the weld bead flush before running the blade under load.
