The STARRETT 14420 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade built for continuous cutting of ferrous and non-ferrous metals in professional shop environments. At 7 feet 8 inches long and 0.5 inches wide with a 0.035-inch thickness, it mounts on standard horizontal and vertical metal-cutting bandsaws. The blade runs a 14 TPI constant pitch with a raker tooth set and positive rake angle, delivering controlled chip removal and consistent cut quality on a wide range of metal stock. The cutting edge is high-speed steel M42, bonded to a flexible alloy back for fatigue resistance through continuous production use.
This blade is suited for metal fabrication shops, maintenance facilities, and trade contractors cutting structural steel, tube, bar stock, angle iron, aluminum extrusions, copper, and similar materials. The Intenss series is designed for demanding production cutting where blade life and cut consistency are priorities. The constant pitch at 14 TPI makes it a practical choice for medium-section ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces in both horizontal and vertical bandsaw configurations.
Designed as a welded replacement bandsaw blade for metal-cutting horizontal and vertical bandsaws accepting a 7-foot 8-inch by 0.5-inch blade. Verify your machine's blade length, width, and thickness specifications before installation.
Blade installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician following the bandsaw manufacturer's tensioning and tracking procedures. Power down and lock out the machine completely before removing the worn blade or installing the new one. Handle the coiled blade with cut-resistant gloves, as the toothed edge presents a laceration hazard during uncoiling. Confirm proper blade tension and wheel tracking before resuming cutting operations.
