The STARRETT 14286 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade engineered for continuous cutting of ferrous and non-ferrous metals in industrial and trade shop environments. Measuring 12 feet 6 inches in length and 0.5 inches wide with a 0.035-inch thickness, this blade carries 14 teeth per inch (TPI) in a constant-pitch, raker-set configuration. The cutting teeth are manufactured from M42 high-speed steel, a cobalt-bearing grade selected for heat resistance and edge retention under demanding cutting cycles. Licensed machinists, millwrights, fabricators, and metal trades professionals are the primary installers and users of this blade.
This blade is part of the Intenss series and is suited for straight and contour cutting operations on ferrous metals such as mild steel and alloy steel, as well as non-ferrous metals including aluminum, brass, and copper. The positive rake angle promotes aggressive material removal, making it appropriate for production cutting environments and job-site fabrication shops running vertical or horizontal band saws. The flexible back design reduces fatigue cracking during extended cuts and tight contour work.
Designed as a welded-loop replacement blade for band saws accepting a 12-foot 6-inch by 0.5-inch bi-metal blade. Verify your saw's blade length, width, and thickness specifications before installation.
Blade installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or metal fabrication professional. Disconnect and lock out power to the band saw before changing blades. Confirm blade tension and wheel tracking per the saw manufacturer's guidelines before resuming operation. Handle the coiled blade with cut-resistant gloves, as the toothed edge presents a laceration hazard during uncoiling and mounting.
