The STARRETT 14280 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade engineered for continuous contour cutting of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The blade runs 150 inches in length and 1/2 inch in width, with a 0.035-inch back thickness and a constant 10 TPI pitch. The cutting teeth are M42 high-speed steel with a positive rake angle and raker tooth set, delivering aggressive chip clearance and extended service life in demanding metal-cutting applications. The flexible back resists fatigue during tight-radius cuts. This blade is part of the Intenss series and is installed by HVAC fabricators, pipefitters, metal fabricators, and maintenance technicians who run horizontal or vertical bandsaws in shop environments.
The 14280 is suited for cutting ferrous metals such as structural steel, tube, and pipe, as well as non-ferrous materials including aluminum, copper, and brass. The constant 10 TPI pitch and raker set make it most effective on solid stock and structural sections where a uniform chip load improves cut quality and reduces blade deflection. It is a practical choice for production cutting tasks where consistent pitch outperforms variable-pitch blades on uniform cross-sections.
Designed for bandsaw machines that accept a 150-inch blade loop with a 1/2-inch width and 0.035-inch blade thickness. Suitable for horizontal and vertical metal-cutting bandsaws configured for bi-metal blades in that wheel and guide spacing range.
Bandsaw blade installation and tensioning should be performed by a qualified technician following the bandsaw manufacturer's service instructions. Disconnect and lock out electrical power to the machine before removing the old blade or mounting the new one. Confirm wheel tracking and guide bearing clearances are set to the blade width before resuming operation. Do not exceed the machine's rated blade speed for bi-metal blades cutting the intended material.
