The STARRETT 14278 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade engineered for continuous cutting in metal fabrication and industrial sawing applications. It measures 93 inches long and 0.5 inches wide with a blade thickness of 0.035 inches. The cutting edge features 10 teeth per inch at a constant pitch with a raker tooth set and positive rake angle. Tooth material is M42 high speed steel, which provides heat and wear resistance when cutting ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The flexible back construction reduces blade fatigue and breakage during extended use. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and general trade shops will find this blade suited to production cutting on standard vertical or horizontal band saws.
The 14278 is built for contour and straight cutting in metal shop environments. Its constant pitch and raker set make it effective on ferrous metals such as mild steel, structural steel, and pipe, as well as non-ferrous metals including aluminum, brass, and copper. The M42 tooth material handles interrupted cuts and scale without rapid dulling. It is a practical choice for pipe fabricators, HVAC sheet metal shops, and general metalworking facilities running production volumes that justify a welded-loop blade over a coil stock blade.
Designed as an OEM-style welded replacement blade for band saws accepting a 93-inch loop blade at 0.5 inches wide and 0.035 inches thick.
Installation should be performed by a qualified technician familiar with bandsaw blade tensioning and tracking procedures. Power down and lockout the saw before removing the old blade or mounting the new one. Use appropriate blade guides and wheel brushes to clear metal chips before seating the new blade. Verify blade tension and tracking at low speed before resuming production cuts.
