The STARRETT 14073 is a welded carbon steel bandsaw blade from the Duratec SFB series, designed for contour cutting applications on a wide range of materials. At 8 feet long and 1/2 inch wide with a 0.025-inch thickness, this blade mounts on stationary vertical or horizontal bandsaws common in fabrication and shop environments. The 14 teeth-per-inch constant pitch pattern delivers smooth, consistent cuts, while the raker tooth set controls chip removal during the cut. The straight tooth form and flexible back type make this a dependable general-purpose blade for both ferrous and non-ferrous work.
This blade is suited for cutting ferrous metal, non-ferrous metal, plastic, and plywood, covering the range of materials encountered in metalworking shops, millwork operations, and general fabrication. The Duratec SFB series targets production and maintenance applications where a reliable, single-use or short-run blade is needed without the overhead of bi-metal tooling. It is typically installed by machinists, fabricators, or maintenance technicians working with bench or floor-model bandsaw equipment.
Designed as a general-purpose welded replacement bandsaw blade for stationary bandsaws accepting an 8-foot blade length and 1/2-inch blade width.
Bandsaw blade installation should be performed by a qualified technician with the machine fully powered down and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify wheel diameter and blade guide clearances match the 1/2-inch blade width before mounting. Tension and track the blade according to the saw manufacturer specifications before resuming operation. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling the blade to prevent injury from the toothed edge.
