The STARRETT 13863 is a band saw blade coil stock designed for continuous-length blade fabrication and high-volume cutting operations. Manufactured from carbon steel with a flexible back, the blade measures 1 inch wide and 0.035 inches thick, wound in a 250-foot coil. The cutting edge features 14 teeth per inch (TPI) in a constant-pitch, raker-set configuration with a straight tooth rake angle and straight tooth form. At 10 pounds per coil, this stock is suited to shops and service operations that cut blades to custom lengths for specific saws and applications.
This coil stock is used in metalworking, woodworking, and general fabrication settings where standard pre-joined blade lengths are impractical or where multiple blade lengths are needed from a single supply. The flexible back construction allows the blade to run on bandsaw wheel diameters typical of both benchtop and floor-standing machines. The 14 TPI constant-pitch layout delivers a consistent chip load and smooth cut finish, making it appropriate for medium-section stock cutting. The raker set pattern provides efficient chip clearance. Contour cutting capability is supported by the blade geometry.
Designed as coil stock for fabrication into custom-length band saw blades for use on bandsaws accepting 1 inch wide blades with 0.035 inch blade thickness.
Blade cutting and joining should be performed by a qualified technician using a blade welder, grinder, and appropriate blade-length gauge. Disconnect and lock out power to the bandsaw before installing any blade. Verify wheel guides, thrust bearings, and blade tension settings are correctly adjusted after installing a new blade per the saw manufacturer specifications. Follow applicable shop safety practices when handling coiled blade stock, as the spring tension in the coil presents a laceration hazard during uncoiling.
