Blade cutting and welding should be performed by a qualified machinist or tool technician following the band saw manufacturer's welding and annealing procedures. Disconnect and lock out power to the band saw before removing the old blade or installing a new one. Use appropriate blade-handling gloves when working with coil stock, as the spring tension of coiled blade material presents a laceration hazard. After welding, anneal the weld joint and grind flush before installing on the machine.
