The STARRETT 12695 is a flexible arm indicator positioner holder designed to securely position dial indicators, test indicators, and similar precision measuring instruments during inspection and machining operations. The arm mounts via a magnetic base and features a 1/4-20 threaded connection at the indicator end. With a post height of 13 inches and a post diameter of 0.625 inches, this holder provides substantial reach and stable positioning for surface plate work, mill setups, and in-process gauging. It is constructed of steel for durability in shop environments. Machinists, tool and die makers, and quality control technicians are the primary users.
The 12695 is suited for use on ferromagnetic machine surfaces such as mill tables, lathe beds, surface plates with magnetic capability, and similar flat metallic workholding surfaces. The flexible arm allows the operator to position the indicator at a wide range of angles and orientations without requiring secondary articulating hardware. This makes it practical for bore gauging, runout checks, flatness inspection, and fixture verification in both production and job-shop settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard accessory holder compatible with dial indicators and test indicators that accept a 1/4-20 threaded or standard shank mount.
Installation requires no tools beyond hand-tightening the magnetic base and securing the indicator at the 1/4-20 threaded connection. Ensure the mounting surface is clean, flat, and free of chips or debris before engaging the magnetic base to maximize holding force. Power down or lock out any moving machine components before placing or adjusting the holder on active equipment. Verify indicator security before taking measurements to prevent instrument damage or inaccurate readings.
