The STARRETT 10183 is a band saw blade coil stock designed for continuous cutting operations where blades are cut to custom lengths on site. Manufactured from carbon steel with a flexible back, this coil measures 1/4 inch wide, 0.025 inches thick, and provides 250 feet of usable blade stock. The blade runs a constant-pitch, skip-tooth geometry at 4 teeth per inch with a straight rake angle and raker tooth set. These characteristics make it well suited for general-purpose contour cutting in wood and soft non-ferrous materials. HVAC sheet metal shops, millwork facilities, and general trade shops keep coil stock on hand to feed horizontal or vertical band saw blade welders.
This coil stock is intended for use in shops equipped with band saw blade welding and grinding stations. The 250-foot length yields a significant number of finished loop blades depending on the band saw's wheel-to-wheel blade path length. The 4 TPI constant pitch and raker set are a standard configuration for cutting wood, plastic, and light non-ferrous stock on vertical contour band saws. The flexible back construction allows the blade to flex around band saw wheels without fatigue cracking during normal operation.

Blade fabrication from coil stock requires a band saw blade welder and blade grinder; this work is typically performed by a qualified shop technician following the blade welder manufacturer's procedure. Power down and lock out the band saw before installing any finished blade loop. Inspect the weld joint for consistent thickness and grind flush before running the blade under tension. Handle coiled stock carefully during unspooling, as the coil stores tension and can spring open unexpectedly.
