The STARRETT 10029 is a carbon steel band saw blade coil stock designed for continuous-use environments where custom blade lengths are cut to order. At 0.5 inches wide and 0.025 inches thick, this coil runs 100 feet and suits shops, service trucks, or facilities that prefer to cut and weld blades in-house rather than stock fixed-length blades. The 18 teeth-per-inch constant pitch with a wavy tooth set makes this coil appropriate for general-purpose cutting of thin materials, tubing, and light structural stock. The flexible back construction reduces blade fatigue and cracking during tight-radius contour cuts.
This coil stock is used in horizontal and vertical band saw applications where the operator cuts blades to the required length, welds the ends, and dresses the weld before installation. The 18 TPI constant pitch is well suited for cutting thin-wall tubing, conduit, small-diameter bar stock, and similar materials found in HVAC, plumbing, and general fabrication work. The wavy tooth set reduces blade vibration and provides a smoother cut finish. The straight rake angle and straight tooth form are standard configurations for carbon steel cutting applications in both shop and field settings.
Designed as a general-purpose coil stock replacement for band saws that accept 0.5-inch-wide blades welded to a required loop length. Specific machine compatibility depends on the throat depth, wheel diameter, and blade guides of the band saw in use.
Coil stock installation requires cutting the blade to the correct loop length, butt-welding the ends using a blade welder, and dressing the weld flat before installing on the saw. Power down and lock out the band saw before removing the existing blade or threading a new blade through the guides and blade guard. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling coil stock, as the toothed edge presents a laceration hazard during uncoiling and cutting. Follow the band saw manufacturer's tension and tracking specifications when seating the finished blade.
