The STARRETT 00109 is a welded bi-metal bandsaw blade engineered for demanding metal-cutting applications in industrial and fabrication environments. Measuring 19 feet 2 inches in length and 1-1/2 inches wide with a 0.05-inch thickness, this blade runs on large vertical or horizontal band saws used by metal fabricators, machinists, and maintenance technicians. The variable 2-3 TPI pitch pattern reduces harmonic vibration and helps control chip load across varying material cross-sections. High-speed steel teeth are ground to a positive rake angle with a raker tooth set for aggressive, consistent chip clearance on ferrous materials.
This blade is built for cutting steel, stainless steel, and exotic steel alloys where a standard carbon blade would wear prematurely. The Primalloy series bi-metal construction bonds a high-speed steel tooth edge to a flexible alloy steel back, giving the blade resistance to tooth strippage under interrupted cuts and allowing it to flex around bandsaw wheels without fatigue cracking. It is well suited to production cutting of structural shapes, bar stock, tubing, and plate in job shop, maintenance, and heavy fabrication settings. The straight tooth form and ground cutting edge deliver a clean, dimensionally consistent kerf.
Designed to fit horizontal and vertical band saws accepting a 19-foot 2-inch blade loop, 1-1/2 inches wide. Verify wheel diameter, blade guide spacing, and drive wheel capacity before installation to confirm fitment with your specific saw.
Bandsaw blade installation and tensioning should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician with the saw fully de-energized and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling and coiling the blade. Set blade tension and guide clearances according to the saw manufacturer specifications for the blade width. Allow a short break-in period at reduced feed pressure on initial cuts to seat the tooth geometry.
