The STANDARD ABRASIVES 7000046878 is a 3-inch non-woven aluminum oxide quick-change disc designed for surface conditioning, light deburring, and finishing tasks in fabrication and maintenance environments. Built on the Lockit Type R attaching system, the disc mounts and releases quickly without tools, reducing changeover time during production runs. Rated for up to 20,000 RPM, it handles high-speed angle grinder and die grinder applications without compromising disc integrity. The medium-grade aluminum oxide abrasive provides consistent cut rate across steel, stainless, and aluminum surfaces, while the non-woven construction conforms to irregular profiles and contours. Licensed trades and industrial maintenance technicians are the primary installers and users of this disc.
This disc is suited for use in metal fabrication shops, HVAC duct work preparation, pipefitting, and general maintenance environments where surface conditioning or light material removal is required. The maroon, medium-grade non-woven construction makes it appropriate for blending welds, removing light oxidation, and prepping surfaces before coating or inspection. It is compatible with Type R quick-change backing pads and mandrels commonly found on right-angle grinders and extended die grinders used across the plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical trades.
Designed for use with Type R quick-change backing pads and mandrels on right-angle grinders and die grinders. Attaching system is Series RC with a white button color.
Installation is performed by pressing the disc onto a compatible Type R quick-change mandrel until the locking button engages. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and confirm the grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds 20,000 RPM. Always use appropriate eye protection and follow applicable ANSI B11 and OSHA abrasive wheel safety guidelines. Do not exceed the rated maximum RPM, and ensure the backing pad is properly torqued to the grinder spindle before operation.
