The SPORLAN 100488 is an angle-body thermal expansion valve (TXV) designed for commercial refrigeration systems. It features a 3/8-inch SAE flare inlet and a 1/2-inch SAE flare outlet, along with a 30-inch capillary tube and a 1/4-inch flare external equalizer connection. With a nominal capacity of 5.5 tons, this valve is engineered to meter refrigerant flow into the evaporator, maintaining precise superheat control under varying load conditions. Thermostatic Charge C is factory-installed. A 100-mesh removable strainer protects the valve seat from debris. Licensed refrigeration technicians and commercial HVAC-R contractors install this component as part of a direct-expansion refrigeration circuit.
This TXV is rated for use with R-22, R-407C, R-407A, and R-422D refrigerants, making it suitable for both legacy R-22 systems and retrofit applications using compatible HFC blends. The angle-body configuration is commonly used in commercial refrigeration equipment where inline piping geometry requires a directional change at the expansion device. Typical installations include walk-in coolers, reach-in cases, and medium-temperature commercial refrigeration systems requiring reliable superheat regulation.
Rated for use with R-22, R-407C, R-407A, and R-422D refrigerants in commercial refrigeration systems. This valve corresponds to SPORLAN model BFVE-C-C. Verify system tonnage, refrigerant type, and connection sizes before installation.
Installation must be performed by an EPA Section 608-certified technician. Recover all refrigerant and de-energize the system before removing the existing expansion valve. Ensure flare connections are properly torqued to avoid leaks and that the sensing bulb is securely mounted to the suction line with good thermal contact. External equalizer tubing must be connected downstream of the bulb location per standard TXV piping practice.
