The SPI Z6905 is a carbide ball contact point designed for use with test indicators in precision measurement applications. It features a 0.12-inch ball diameter and a contact point length of 0.5 inches, providing consistent and repeatable surface contact during inspection and gauging tasks. The carbide tip material resists wear under repeated use, maintaining measurement accuracy over time. This contact point is a replacement or spare accessory installed by machinists, quality control technicians, and metrologists working in shop-floor or metrology lab environments.
This contact point is suited for precision dimensional inspection tasks where a ball-style tip is required for accessing curved surfaces, bores, or contoured workpieces. It is compatible with Brown Sharpe test indicators and is appropriate for use in both production and inspection environments requiring tight measurement tolerances. The compact length makes it practical for confined measurement setups where clearance is limited.
Designed for use with Brown Sharpe test indicators as stated by the manufacturer.
Contact point replacement is performed by metrology or quality control personnel. Power down or de-energize any automated gauging fixture before servicing indicator hardware. Thread the contact point into the indicator spindle carefully to avoid cross-threading the typically fine-pitch threads. Do not overtighten, as indicator spindle threads are precision components that can be damaged by excessive torque.
