The SPI MS160712121 is a magnetic indicator base designed to hold dial indicators, test indicators, and similar precision measuring instruments securely during inspection and setup tasks. The base uses a magnetic mounting system rated at 80 kilograms of pull force, keeping the assembly firmly anchored to ferrous machine surfaces, surface plates, and workholding fixtures. The base measures 2.36 inches in length, 1.97 inches in width, and 2.17 inches in height. The articulating rod extends 5.90 inches, providing reach and positioning flexibility. This tool is used by machinists, tool and die makers, quality control technicians, and maintenance professionals in precision manufacturing and industrial environments.
The MS160712121 is suited for machine shop, inspection room, and field maintenance applications where a stable, repeatable indicator mount is needed. The magnetic base attaches directly to mill tables, lathe beds, surface plates, and other ferrous workholding surfaces. The adjustable post and rod allow the dial indicator to be positioned at a wide range of angles and heights to suit bore, runout, flatness, and alignment checks. It is appropriate for both production-floor setups and bench-top quality inspection work.
Designed as a general-purpose magnetic indicator base compatible with standard dial indicators and test indicators used in precision measurement and machine setup applications.
Installation is performed by machinists and quality technicians without specialized tools. Before mounting the base, ensure the target surface is clean, flat, and free of chips or coolant that could reduce magnetic adhesion. Engage the magnetic lock only after the base is positioned correctly on the ferrous surface. When mounting near live machinery, power down or lock out the equipment per standard lockout/tagout procedures before placing or repositioning the indicator assembly.
