The SPI MS160712001 is a flat-end micrometer calibration standard used to verify and zero outside micrometers in the field or on the shop floor. Machined to a maximum length of 1 inch with an accuracy of 0.000080 inch, this gauge rod gives technicians and machinists a reliable reference point for confirming instrument accuracy before taking critical measurements. It includes a heat-insulating handle to prevent thermal expansion from body heat, which can otherwise introduce measurement error when handling the standard directly. This type of calibration standard is a basic requirement in any quality-controlled metrology workflow.
This calibration standard is suited for use in machine shops, tool rooms, manufacturing facilities, and maintenance environments where micrometer accuracy must be confirmed regularly.
