The SPI MS1536-04 is a mechanical outside micrometer designed for precision measurement in demanding shop and field environments. It delivers a maximum range of 9 inches with a graduation of 0.0001 inches and an accuracy of 0.0002 inches, making it suitable for close-tolerance inspection work. The ratchet stop thimble provides consistent measuring pressure, and the rotating spindle allows smooth, repeatable contact with the workpiece. Solid carbide measuring faces resist wear over high-cycle use. The unit ships calibrated with NIST traceability certification, documentation, and a protective case included. Machinists, quality control technicians, and toolroom professionals are the primary users of this instrument.
This micrometer is suited for dimensional inspection of large-diameter shafts, bores, and machined components where a 9-inch measurement range is required. It is appropriate for both production-floor spot checks and toolroom inspection setups. The included short-form certificate of calibration and NIST traceability standards documentation supports use in environments where measurement traceability is required for quality audits or process control records.
Designed as a standalone mechanical outside micrometer for general-purpose dimensional inspection of external surfaces up to 9 inches in diameter or thickness.
This instrument does not require installation, but proper handling procedures apply. Store the micrometer in its included case when not in use to protect the measuring faces and calibration. Allow the micrometer and workpiece to reach the same ambient temperature before measuring to reduce thermal expansion errors. Do not overtighten the spindle against the workpiece; use the ratchet stop exclusively to apply measuring force. Recalibrate on a scheduled interval per your facility quality program or applicable metrology standards.
