The SPI MS0808061 is an indicator positioner holder designed to securely mount and position dial indicators, test indicators, and similar precision measuring instruments during inspection and layout work. The unit features an articulated arm for flexible positioning and a fine adjustment mechanism that allows precise incremental movement of the indicator tip. With a magnetic pull force of 66 pounds, the rectangular base holds firmly to ferrous machine tables, surface plates, and workpiece fixtures. Weighing 0.2 pounds, the MS0808061 is compact and suited for bench-top metrology, machining setups, and quality control applications. Licensed metrology technicians, machinists, and quality assurance professionals typically use this type of holder.
The MS0808061 is used in machine shops, toolrooms, and quality labs where a stable, repositionable indicator mount is required. The articulated arm provides multi-axis reach, accommodating a range of indicator positions without relocating the base. The rectangular magnetic base measures 35 mm in height and 35 mm in length, providing a compact footprint on ferrous work surfaces. The overall arm length measures 205 mm, giving adequate reach for most standard inspection setups on mill tables, granite surface plates, and similar flat ferrous surfaces.
Designed as an OEM-style positioner holder compatible with standard dial indicators and test indicators commonly used in precision measurement and inspection applications on ferrous work surfaces.
Machinists and metrology technicians install this holder by placing the magnetic base on a clean, flat ferrous surface and engaging the magnetic lock before adjusting the articulated arm. Ensure the work surface is free of chips, coolant, and debris before seating the base to maintain full magnetic contact and pull strength. Power down or de-energize any machine axes before indicating a workpiece to prevent movement during setup. Do not use the magnetic base on non-ferrous surfaces such as aluminum tables or granite without an appropriate adapter plate.
