The SPI CMS220519028 is an electronic point micrometer designed for precision measurement in tight or contoured workpiece areas that standard flat-anvil micrometers cannot access. It covers a measurement range of 1 to 2 inches and delivers a resolution of 0.0001 inches with an accuracy of 0.0002 inches. The ratchet thimble ensures consistent, repeatable measuring force across readings. Both the spindle and anvil feature hardened carbide points ground to a 30-degree angle, making this instrument well suited for measuring grooves, keyways, O-ring grooves, and small-radius curved surfaces. A licensed metrology technician, machinist, or quality control inspector typically performs calibration and routine use of this instrument.
This point micrometer is used in precision machining, toolroom, and quality assurance environments where standard micrometer anvil geometry is too wide for the feature being measured. The 6.5 mm spindle diameter and 5 mm point lengths on both the spindle and anvil allow access to narrow channels and recesses. The instrument includes a data output port, making it compatible with SPC data collection systems for in-process or final inspection workflows. It ships calibrated to ASME B89.1.13 and is packaged in a protective plastic box.

Point micrometers are precision instruments and should be handled and stored with care to protect the carbide contact points from impact or contamination. Before use, verify zero calibration at the minimum measurement setting using the supplied reference standard or a certified gauge block. Data output connections should be made with the instrument powered on and stationary to ensure accurate SPC transmission. Instrument service and recalibration should be performed by a qualified metrology technician in accordance with ASME B89.1.13 guidelines.
