The SPI CMS220519022 is an electronic ball anvil micrometer designed for precision outside measurement of curved, convex, and cylindrical workpiece surfaces. It covers a measurement range of 1 to 2 inches with a resolution and graduation of 0.0001 inches, making it suitable for high-accuracy dimensional inspection tasks. The carbide ball anvil and spherical spindle contact points are sized at 6.5 mm diameter each, allowing consistent contact on radius surfaces where a flat anvil would rock or seat improperly. A ratchet thimble ensures repeatable measuring force, and a positive lock nut holds readings during transfer. Calibrated to ASME B89.1.13, this instrument is used by machinists, quality control technicians, and tool-and-die professionals.
This micrometer is intended for shop-floor and inspection-room use where curved or spherical surfaces require accurate outside diameter or wall-thickness measurements. Typical applications include measuring tubing wall thickness, ball bearings, convex radii, and similar geometry that flat-anvil micrometers cannot reliably contact. The digital counter display eliminates interpolation error during reading. At approximately 1 pound, the instrument is hand-portable for bench or in-process inspection work.
Designed as an OEM-style precision measuring instrument suitable for general metrology, inspection, and quality control applications requiring ball-contact outside micrometer measurements in the 1 to 2 inch range.
Handle and store in a clean, temperature-stable environment to maintain calibration accuracy. Before use, verify zero setting at the lower end of the measurement range per the manufacturer calibration procedure. Avoid dropping or applying side-load force to the spindle, as this can damage the measuring faces or affect calibration. Periodic recalibration against a certified gauge block or standard is recommended per shop quality system requirements.
