The SPI CMS160726106 is a 10-piece horizontal dial test indicator kit designed for precision dimensional measurement in machining, inspection, and toolroom environments. The kit centers on a jeweled-movement indicator with a 0.06 inch measuring range, 0.0005 inch dial graduation, and 0-15-0 dial reading on a 1.5 inch white dial face. Accuracy is rated at 0.0012 inches. The horizontal indicator style with automatic reversal and a revolution counter makes it suited for surface, bore, and runout checks where a plunge-style indicator cannot reach. Licensed machinists, metrologists, and precision machine operators are the primary users.
This kit is built for bench inspection, CMM setups, surface plate work, and machine tool alignment tasks in both job shop and production environments. The included accessories extend its versatility across a range of mounting and contact situations. The dovetail stem system and adapter sleeve allow the indicator to mount on standard magnetic bases and indicator holders. The eight-gage bar with clamp provides an additional rigid fixturing option. Both light manufacturing and tool-and-die operations will find the bundled contact points and stems cover most routine indicator setups without additional purchases.
Designed for use with standard dovetail-style indicator holders and magnetic base arms that accept 3/8 inch or 5/32 inch dovetail stems. The included adapter sleeve extends compatibility to holders sized for either stem format.
Installation is performed by machinists and inspection technicians using a magnetic base, indicator stand, or dedicated fixture arm. Ensure the mounting stem is fully seated and clamped in the holder before taking measurements to prevent drift under contact force. The contact point should be positioned so the indicator is loaded to approximately mid-travel at the start of the measurement cycle, keeping the needle within the active graduation range. Do not exceed the stated measuring range, as overtravel can damage the jeweled movement.
