The SPI CMS160726054 is a magnetic-base indicator positioner holder designed to secure dial indicators, test indicators, and similar precision measuring instruments during inspection and machining operations. It features an articulated arm configuration that provides multi-axis positioning flexibility, combined with a fine adjustment mechanism for precise final positioning of the indicator tip. The magnetic base delivers 180 pounds of pull force, holding the assembly firmly to ferrous machine tables, surface plates, and fixtures. Machinists, quality control technicians, and toolroom personnel install and use this holder in precision measurement workflows.
This indicator holder is suited for use on manual and CNC machine tools, surface plates, and inspection fixtures in both production and toolroom environments. The articulated arm allows the indicator to be positioned around workpiece features that would be difficult to reach with a rigid arm. The fine adjustment feature lets the operator dial in the exact contact point without repositioning the magnetic base, which is critical when taking repeatable measurements on tight tolerances. The rectangular base provides a stable, low-profile footprint on the work surface.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitment for dial indicators and test indicators with a 3/8 inch (9.53 mm) stem diameter, suitable for use on any ferrous machine table, surface plate, or inspection fixture that accepts a magnetic base holder.
This holder is typically set up by machinists or quality technicians — no electrical power is required, but the magnetic base should be switched off before repositioning to avoid dragging debris across a precision surface plate. Ensure the mounting surface is clean and flat to maximize magnetic contact and pull force. Do not exceed the rated clamping diameter when mounting indicator accessories, as overtightening the clamping collar may damage indicator stems.
