The SPI CMS160726031 is a horizontal-style dial test indicator designed for precision measurement in machining, quality control, and inspection applications. It delivers a maximum measurement range of 0.80 mm per revolution with a dial graduation of 0.01 mm and a stated accuracy of 0.013 mm. The fully jeweled movement reduces friction and wear for consistent, repeatable readings over time. The dial face is white with a 0-40-0 bidirectional reading format, making it easy to detect deviation in either direction from a set reference point. The satin chrome finish resists corrosion in shop environments. Machinists, tool-and-die makers, and QC inspectors are the primary users.
This indicator is suited for horizontal mounting on surface plates, height gages, magnetic bases, and dovetail-equipped fixtures. The dovetail mount style provides rigid, secure positioning and is compatible with standard dovetail extensions included in the kit. Universal positioning capability allows the indicator to be oriented to reach tight or angled surfaces during part inspection. The 32 mm dial diameter provides good readability in confined setups. The kit includes two contact points, dovetail extensions in 5/32 inch and 3/8 inch sizes, a height gage bar, a universal clamp, and a fitted case for storage and transport.
Designed for use with standard dovetail-mount indicator holders and fixtures. Compatible with dovetail extensions sized at 5/32 inch and 3/8 inch as included. Suitable for surface plates, height gages, and universal indicator stands that accept dovetail-style indicators.
Mounting and setup should be performed by a machinist or QC technician familiar with precision measurement instruments. Secure the dovetail shank firmly in the holder before taking readings to prevent slippage and measurement error. Avoid overtightening the clamp, as this can distort the dovetail and affect repeatability. Contact point selection and stem angle should be set before zeroing the dial against a reference surface.
