The SPI CMS160725109 is a dial drop indicator designed for precision dimensional measurement in professional machining, metrology, and quality-control applications. It measures a total range of 0.25 inches with a graduation of 0.001 inches per division and delivers an accuracy of 0.002 inches. The 2.2-inch white dial face provides clear readability, and the built-in revolution counter allows the technician to track cumulative travel across the 0.1-inch-per-revolution range. A NIST Traceability Certification is included, making this indicator suitable for documented inspection workflows. Licensed metrology technicians, machinists, and quality inspectors are the primary installers and users of this instrument.
This drop indicator is appropriate for use in machine shops, manufacturing lines, and inspection departments where repeatable surface, runout, or flatness measurements are required. The lug-back mounting and 3/8-inch stem diameter support universal positioning on standard indicator holders, magnetic bases, and surface-plate setups. Its counter pointer and easy-reading dial face make it well suited for both production-floor spot checks and bench-level inspection tasks where frequent readings are taken in series.
Designed for use with standard indicator holders, magnetic bases, and fixtures accepting a 3/8-inch stem diameter and lug-back mounting; compatible with AGD Group 2 indicator accessories and setups.
This indicator is installed by machinists or metrology technicians using a compatible magnetic base, indicator arm, or surface-plate fixture. Secure the 3/8-inch stem firmly in the holder collet to prevent movement during measurement. Avoid applying lateral force to the spindle, as side loading can affect accuracy and damage internal components. Verify zero calibration against a known reference before beginning any inspection sequence.
