The SPI CMS160725090 is a dial drop indicator designed for precision dimensional measurement in industrial, manufacturing, and inspection applications. It features a 0.4 inch total measurement range with a fine 0.001 inch graduation and a 2.2 inch white dial face for clear, easy reading. The dial reads 0 to 100 with 0.1 inch of travel per revolution and a jeweled bearing for smooth, repeatable needle response. Accuracy is rated at 0.002 inches. A NIST-traceable calibration certificate is included, making this indicator suitable for quality control environments where documented measurement standards are required.
This dial drop indicator is used in machine shops, metrology labs, and production inspection setups where precise vertical displacement or surface variation must be measured. It mounts via a lug back and accepts standard 3/8 inch stem holders or snugs on most indicator stands and magnetic bases. It is appropriate for incoming inspection, fixture verification, runout checks, and surface comparator work in both light manufacturing and precision machining environments.
Designed as an OEM-style drop indicator compatible with standard 3/8 inch stem indicator holders, magnetic bases, and lug-style mounting arms used in general metrology and production inspection setups.
Installation is typically performed by machinists, quality technicians, or metrologists. Secure the 3/8 inch stem in the holder clamp or collet and tighten the locking mechanism before use to prevent slippage during measurement. Ensure the contact point is perpendicular to the measured surface to avoid cosine error. Zero the dial at the reference position before taking readings.
