The SPI CMS160713026 is a digital electronic drop indicator designed for precise linear displacement measurement in metrology, machinist, and quality control applications. It measures from 0.00 mm up to 1 inch (25.00 mm) with a resolution of 0.0005 inches (0.010 mm) and an accuracy of 0.0012 inches (0.020 mm). The center lug flat back configuration allows secure mounting to magnetic bases, surface plates, and indicator holders. A CR2032 battery powers the digital display, providing clear inch and metric readout. NIST traceability certification is included, supporting documented calibration requirements in regulated shop and inspection environments.
This indicator is suited for use on inspection benches, machine tools, fixtures, and surface plates in both shop-floor and laboratory settings. It is commonly used by machinists, quality technicians, and tool-and-die professionals for runout checks, surface flatness inspection, part deflection measurement, and comparative gauging. The dual-mode inch and metric display makes it practical in environments where mixed measurement standards are in use. The 3/8-inch stem diameter fits standard indicator holders and dovetail clamps without adapters.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use digital drop indicator compatible with standard 3/8-inch stem indicator holders, dovetail clamps, and magnetic base assemblies used in general metrology and machining inspection setups.
Mounting and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or metrology technician familiar with indicator and fixture best practices. Secure the 3/8-inch stem firmly in the indicator holder before zeroing the display to prevent slippage during measurement. Avoid side-loading the spindle beyond the intended measuring axis, as this can affect accuracy and damage the contact mechanism. Replace the CR2032 battery when the low-battery indicator activates to maintain calibration integrity.
