The SPI 37-109-6 is a single-end Go plug thread gage designed to verify the minimum material condition of internal M5x0.8 threads to 6H tolerance class. The Go member checks that a threaded hole has been cut within the acceptable lower limit, confirming the thread will accept a mating fastener without interference. This gage is used in precision machining, quality control, and inspection environments where thread conformance to ANSI standards and NIST traceability is required. A handle is not included and must be sourced separately. The gage weighs 0.066 pounds and measures 1.28 inches in length with a 0.2-inch diameter profile.
This plug thread gage is suited for inspection of M5x0.8 tapped holes in production machining shops, assembly lines, and quality assurance departments. It is appropriate for use on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces wherever M5 metric fastener engagement must be verified before assembly. The 6H classification is the standard tolerance class for general-purpose metric internal threads, making this gage a common tool in both job-shop and high-volume manufacturing inspection workflows.
Designed for use on internal M5x0.8 threaded holes manufactured to 6H tolerance class per ANSI metric thread standards.
Plug thread gages are used by machinists, quality control technicians, and inspection personnel — not installed in a system but applied to a workpiece. Before use, ensure the threaded hole is clean and free of chips, coolant, or debris that could affect gage reading. Apply the gage by hand without force; the Go member should pass through the full thread length under its own weight or with light hand pressure only. Never force the gage or use a wrench, as this can damage both the gage and the workpiece thread, and will invalidate the inspection result.
