The SPI 34-657-7 is a size 5 plug thread gage handle machined from steel for use with plug thread gages covering a range of unified thread sizes from 1-1/4 inch to 1-1/2 inch diameter. It provides the grip interface between the technician and the gage member, allowing controlled insertion and withdrawal during thread inspection. At 1 pound, the handle is solid without being cumbersome during repetitive gauging operations. A Certification of Inspection traceable to ANSI and NIST standards is included, supporting quality documentation requirements on the shop floor or in an inspection lab.
This handle is suited for dimensional inspection applications in manufacturing, machining, and precision fabrication environments where thread form and pitch diameter must be verified to specification. It is used by quality control inspectors, machinists, and metrology technicians working with unified thread forms in the 1-1/4 inch and 1-1/2 inch diameter range. Compatible thread sizes include 1-1/2-12, 1-1/2-6, 1-1/4-12, 1-1/4-7, 1-3/8-12, and 1-3/8-6. The handle size 5 designation follows standard gage handle sizing conventions for this thread diameter range.
Designed for use with plug thread gage members in the following thread sizes: 1-1/2-12, 1-1/2-6, 1-1/4-12, 1-1/4-7, 1-3/8-12, and 1-3/8-6. Handle size 5 is the standard designation for this diameter range per conventional plug gage handle sizing.
Plug thread gage handles are installed and serviced by quality technicians or machinists in inspection or production environments. Before attaching or removing a gage member, ensure the locking mechanism is fully disengaged to avoid damage to the gage or handle threads. Handle and gage members should be kept clean and lightly oiled to prevent corrosion and ensure accurate seating. Inspection procedures should follow applicable ANSI gauging standards for thread measurement.
