This single-ring gage is manufactured from Oil Hardened Non-Shrinking Steel (OHNS), a tool steel known for dimensional stability and resistance to wear during repeated gauging cycles. It is used to confirm that a threaded workpiece falls within the acceptable tolerance limits for a Class 6G fit — meaning the Go gage must pass over the thread freely. An NPL Traceability Certification is included, making it suitable for shops operating under documented quality systems. Threaded ring gages are handled and applied by machinists or quality control technicians — no power tools or electrical shutoff is required. Before use, clean the gage and the workpiece thread to remove chips, coolant, and debris, as contamination will affect gauging accuracy. Apply a light gage oil to the gage threads to reduce wear and extend service life. Store the gage in its protective case when not in use, and have it recalibrated at regular intervals per your facility quality plan to maintain traceability.
