The SPI 34-433-3 is a tapered pipe thread plug gage used to inspect and verify internal NPT pipe threads to Class L-1 tolerance. It checks that tapped holes conform to ANSI B1.20.1 dimensional standards before assembly, catching undersized or oversized threads that could cause leaks or fitting failures. This is a single-end gage with a Handle Size 1 body, suitable for use on 1/16-27 NPT threads. Machinists, pipefitters, plumbers, and quality control inspectors use this gage in production, fabrication, and field service environments where threaded pipe joint integrity must be verified before assembly.
This gage is designed for inspecting 1/16-27 tapered NPT internal threads, which are common in small-diameter fittings, instrument connections, and hydraulic or pneumatic ports. Class L-1 gaging reflects the standard tolerance class used for general-purpose NPT thread inspection. The single-end configuration and compact Handle Size 1 form factor make it practical for benchtop and field inspection work where access to small threaded bores is required.
Designed for inspection of 1/16-27 NPT tapered internal threads in fittings, manifolds, instrument ports, and threaded components requiring Class L-1 acceptance criteria per ANSI B1.20.1.
This gage is a precision inspection instrument and should be handled with care to avoid damage to the thread form. Clean the threaded bore and gage threads before use to ensure accurate engagement. Store in a protective case when not in use to prevent wear or corrosion that could affect calibration. Periodic recalibration against NIST-traceable standards is recommended to maintain measurement integrity.
