Plug thread gages are used by quality control inspectors and machinists — no installation in the traditional sense applies. Store the gage in its protective case when not in use to prevent wear and contamination of the thread members. Do not force the No Go end into a conforming thread, as this indicates an out-of-tolerance condition and forcing can damage the gage. Recalibrate or return for NIST re-certification at intervals consistent with your facility quality management plan.
