The SPI 34-283-2 is a single-end Go plug thread gage machined from steel and used to verify the minimum material condition of internal 7/16-28 threaded features. Classified to the 6H tolerance class per ANSI and NIST standards, this gage confirms that a tapped hole will accept a mating fastener without interference. It is designed for use with a Size 2 handle, sold separately. Machinists, quality technicians, and inspection personnel use this tool on the shop floor or in receiving inspection to validate threaded holes during production or incoming part verification.
This gage is suited for precision inspection of 7/16-28 Unified National Fine (UNF) internal threads in manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, and general mechanical assembly environments. The Go member checks that the thread form, pitch diameter, and lead fall within the acceptable lower limit, ensuring proper fit with a corresponding external thread. It is commonly used alongside a No-Go gage to complete a full pass/fail thread inspection routine.
Designed for use with Size 2 plug thread gage handles. Compatible with standard trilock-style handle systems accepting single-end Go gage blanks of the corresponding handle size. No specific handle model numbers were provided in the product data.
Thread plug gages are installed and removed by hand using a compatible gage handle; no power tools should be used during inspection. Ensure the threaded workpiece is clean and free of chips, burrs, or coolant before gaging to avoid false readings or gage wear. Store the gage in its protective case when not in use to preserve calibration and surface finish. Periodic recalibration against NIST-traceable standards is recommended to maintain measurement integrity.
